Assignment 2 - Part 1
Research the Sri Lankan Separatist Conflict. Analyse the origins of the insurgency through the given web-sites above. Find out the historical cause of the conflicts between the Sinhalese and the Tamils in Sri Lanka. Present your main findings to the class (you decide on the timing!) See if you can find certain similarities and lessons for Singapore or your home country!

Use the information that you gathered in PART 1 to help you construct a realistic projection of a "What If" scenario in Southeast Asia that will affect Singapore. We live in an uncertain world where change is the only constant. As a small country, Singapore cannot help but be affected by world events and trends.
1. THINK. Are there any similarities that you'd researched and Singapore? Think in terms of race relations, opportunities for education and employment etc....
2. IMAGINE. Create a scenario in which Singapore finds itself in a similar turbulance like in Sri Lanka. Pay attention to the following:
*Identify the communities.
*What were the respective viewpoints of the parties involved?
3. PREDICT. How do you think Singapore’s decision-makers would respond to the scenario that you have created?
